Goods or components can be transferred from the storage system onto picking stands for onward delivery to the production line or packing station. In simple terms, picking stand technology allows picked items to be accessed by manufacturing or warehouse personnel in the right sequence and the right time frame to optimise assembly or packing processes.

The CTI Systems' range of order picking stands are all ergonomically designed and can be supplied with carousel, conveyor or switch options, depending on the project requirements.

The picking area – or picking zone – is where goods that have been transferred from the bulk storage system are collated by warehouse personnel into assembled orders that are ready to be packed and subsequently, dispatched to their intended destination. As the work undertaken in the picking area relies on creating a seamless interface between automated machinery and human operators, safety and the physical well-being of personnel are key considerations.

The Picking Shuttle is a lifting platform that is programmed to travel around the store to a series of pre-determined picking locations. On arrival at the pick-face, the Shuttle elevates the operator to the appropriate height in the picking area of the storage system to undertake the pick in the most ergonomically comfortable way. Once a pick has been successfully completed, the Shuttle moves on to the next designated location until everything on the ‘pick list’ has been collected. The Picking Shuttle is ideal for handling long or awkwardly shaped products or components that are stored at height in high quantities.
