Solutions for Slabs & Ingots
Liquid metals are usually cast into slabs or ingots. With their considerable weights and sizes, they present challenges of their own for handling or storage. The conventional way of storing slabs/ingots is to handle them by cranes and to stack them one on top of each other. While this is certainly the most compact and cost-efficient way of storage, our customers may have different requirements. Indeed, a downside of such stacking is the potential need for re-stacking stacks in order to access a defined slab-ID. Also, a comparably big floor surface is required for such a solution and there always remains a risk of such stacks breaking apart, especially if slabs are covered by ice or snow further to external transport. Therefore, to better respond to certain customers’ demands, CTI offers high-bay warehouse storage for slabs and ingots. On little floor surface, this allows the storage of large quantities of slabs with direct access to each single one. Realized references include a high-bay warehouse for slabs with a height well beyond 30 m for almost 1.000 slabs.
